If you’ve been caught out by a boutique bankruptcy, I might be able to help…

Another bridal boutique has gone bankrupt this week, leaving not only its owner but many local brides distraught.  If you are one of them, or know someone who is, don’t forget that I might be able to help with the last minute panic to find another dress.

Of course, you might have plenty of time to order another dress from a boutique, and the insurance money to compensate you for your loss.  But if you haven’t got much time left, or have been left out of pocket, a second hand wedding dress could be the answer.

All the dresses are in stock, you can even leave with the dress of your dreams the same day that you find it.  And as a second hand or ex sample wedding dress is usually a fraction of the cost of a new one you might be able to replace your dress without breaking the bank.

Alterations can normally be done even at very short notice, and we also have bridesmaid and flower girl dresses in stock too.

So give us a call.  We can’t get your original dress back, but we might even be able to find you something you like more!

Two new dresses coming soon!

Posted in Uncategorized on September 12th, 2009 by Claire – Be the first to comment

I’ve got two new ex-sample dresses coming in the start of next week, and they are so beautiful I couldn’t wait until then to tell you about them!

dzage-new-dressThey are both a size 12, but that’s where the similarity ends.

The first is a stunning Dzage two-piece wedding dress which has a very simple but stunning skirt and a lovely bodice – it has a panel across the bust covered in flowers and beading detail.  Its a dress that oozes sophistication but still allows your feminine side to peak out.veromia-princess-dress

The second dress is the very definition of a fairytale wedding dress – it you looked in the dictionary under ‘fairytale’ you’d probably find a photo of it!  Its a Veromia dress with a fabulous tule skirt and lots of very pretty flower detailing.

The bridal gowns are due in early next week, so if you want to snap them up before anyone gets a chance, give me a call to make an appointment – and i’ve lots of other second hand wedding dresses you could try on too!

Its wedding fayre season – see you at the Hilton Bromsgrove?

Posted in Uncategorized on September 12th, 2009 by Claire – Be the first to comment

Yep, its the time of year when brides gear up for their planning and buying frenzy, which means that their are loads of wedding fayres going on across the country.  Great news for you brides who don’t want to spend days traipsing round the high streets, and great news to for us suppliers as we can meet lots of you in a small space of time – if a little exhausting!

Which means that I’m off for the second week in a row to a fayre – this one is at The Hilton Hotel on the Birmingham Road, Bromsgrove.  Its on Sunday, 13th September from 11 – 3.30, with two fashion shows at around 12.15 and 2.15.

So if you are looking for a fabulous designer wedding dress at a fraction of the original cost, come and see me!  I’ll have around half of my second hand and once worn wedding dresses with me at the fayre and will be showing a few of them in the fashion shows.  You’ll be able to try and once worn dresses on if you want to, and if you fall in love all over again you can even buy one there and then.  Of course, you can always make an appointment to come and try on more of  the second hand wedding dresses in a more relaxed surrounding at my wedding studio in Kidderminster.

Hopefully see you there!

So come and say hello, we’d love to see you!  And remember – second hand is not second best, and its green too!

Gazelles and Rondelles join the team

Posted in Uncategorized on August 24th, 2009 by Claire – Be the first to comment

I’ve just added two new second hand wedding dresses to my collection, both designer and both superb quality and design, I can’t wait to see them on prospective brides!

Suzanne Neville 'Rondelles'

The first is ‘Rondelles’ from Suzanne Neville, a beautiful ivory silk dress with a heavily boned bodice and swarovski crystals, beading and embroidery around the waistline.  It has an A-line skirt and a chapel train and is extremely classy!

The second is ‘Gazelles’ by La Sposa.  The strapless satin dress is simple but stunning with buttons and bows down the back and the train.  It comes with a beautiful lace jacket enhanced with beads and crystals which also has matching buttons down the back.  The jacket has a wide neck which can be worn off the shoulder.  This dress gives a bride the perfect compromise between a bit of sparkle for the day whilst retaining some modesty, and then a very stylish dress for the evening.

Both dresses are extremely well made and I’m really pleased to add them to my collection – don’t think they’ll be around for long though!

Dresses new in…

The bodice of the lovely Veromia gown

The bodice of the lovely Veromia gown

I’ve had some lovely once worn wedding dresses in over the last few days and have just got around to putting them up on the site.

My new personal favorite, I have a lovely Veromia two-piece second hand wedding dress with a champagne bodice which is in immaculate condition and has very pretty beading and embroidery on it – and is so well made that it gives a beautiful hour-glass figure.  It also has a stunning long chiffon detachable train – perfect to stun them in the church but it won’t get in the way for dancing!

The White Rose gown, a classy little number!

Next is a very feminine White Rose ivory strapless second hand wedding dress which has an unusual cuff to the bodice, which is covered in very pale pink beading and embroidery.  Its a really classic dress, almost something of a bygone era and definately one for all the girly girls out there.

Finally there is a new handmade lace dress which could definately be quite sexy on!  It is a stunning straight dress with a lace overlay and ruching under the bust down to the waist, and with the corset back can be pulled in to show of those lovely curves.  The little lace puddle train is really pretty too!

The ivory lace dress, with added va va voom!

There are more second hand and ex sample wedding dresses coming over the next couple of weeks so watch this space – especially for an ivory Maggie Sottero wedding dress covered in antique lace, its a size 10 and really very pretty and unusual, can’t wait to see that one!

Fame at last!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on June 23rd, 2009 by Claire – 1 Comment

Well perhaps not quite fame, but I am overly excited about the fact that I have had an article about wedding dress trends published on www.cheap-wedding-success.co.uk, a really useful site that any prospective bride should visit, whether you have £100 or £100,000 to spend on your big day.

Here’s a taste of the article I wrote (it’s not just about second hand and ex sample wedding dresses btw but wedding dresses in general):

“So you’re looking for your wedding dress, possibly the most important dress you’ll ever buy, and you want to know about the latest wedding dress trends.

You’re not a slave to fashion, but you catch ‘Gok’ whenever you can and regularly peruse ‘Look’ for the latest styles and bargains on the High Street.

You want a wedding dress you’ll still love in years to come, but that also shows you’re on the ball, the girl with the inside track, the one that knows what’s hot and what’s not.   You’re bored with the endless parade of strapless, full dresses, and want something a bit different.

And, most importantly, you want it all at a bargain price!

So where do you start?  Well, here’s a guide to this year’s wedding dress trends to get your started:”

To read the whole thing, visit http://www.cheap-wedding-success.co.uk/wedding-dress-trends.html and let me know what you think!

And come back in the next few day to find out about the lovely dresses i’ve just had come in – I should get photos done this weekend so expect to see them shortly after!

And it all looks so serene….

Posted in Uncategorized on June 15th, 2009 by Claire – Be the first to comment
Three of my lovely models in three of my many lovely second hand wedding dresses

Three of my lovely models in three of my many lovely second hand wedding dresses

Yesterday I put two fashion shows on at The Red House Glass Cone Museum wedding fayre for my second hand and ex sample wedding dresses.  If you were there, (and many of you were, the fashion shows were packed!!) thanks for coming, and hopefully the wedding dresses looked good as the models glided elegantly (in most cases!) along the catwalk.

Katie gets stuck in a wedding dress!

Katie gets stuck in a wedding dress!

It all seems so calm, so professional, so smooth.

If only that was actually the case!!   The analogy of a swan is particularly apt to describe what actually happens during a wedding dress fashion show.

Just as a swan appears to glide serenely on the surface of a lake, but is actually paddling like mad under the water, the models appear so in control as they sashay down the catwalk – but behind the scenes mad panic is ensuing!

Even with five or six models in each show, there is very little time to get changed, and wedding dresses are not the quickest things to get in and out of!  So dresses are thrown on and off the models in a manner that would probably cause great distress to the designers, flesh is brutally squeezed to fit into the dress quick sharp, tiaras are thrust onto heads and the girls are rushed out into public with barely time to check that everything that should be seen is on display, and nothing is showing that shouldn’t!!

Hands up if you like this wedding dress

Hands up if you like this wedding dress

It would be dizzying even for professionals, but for my models, all of whom are friends and relatives who volunteer (or are press-ganged into helping!) it can be both enjoyable and exhausting – so big, big thanks to all of Sunday’s models and to anyone who has ever modelled for me in the past.

The good news for me is that (so far) all my models have really enjoyed themselves, and all have volunteered to model again.  They are a big help to me, as the second hand and ex sample wedding dresses always look a million times better on a real person.

Come and try some on and see for yourself!

Fabulous fashion show and marvelous models

The blushing brides - or actually the gorgeous girls! Who'd beleive they're only fifteen!!

The blushing brides - or actually the gorgeous girls! Who'd believe they're only fifteen!!

Massive, massive thanks to the girls who modelled for me at the wedding fayre fashion show on Sunday.  My beautiful younger sister Jes and three of her gorgeous friends (Eliza, Georgina and Leah) modelled some of my best second hand wedding dresses, alongside my little sister Leah who looked lovely in ex-sample flower girl dresses.  I even roped my six year old son and one year old daughter in too!

I’m glad to say that there were plenty of brides at the show to see my marvelous models in action, and I sold a once worn wedding dress which was the icing on the cake.  Wedding fayres are hard work,  especially when I’m doing a fashion show too, but this one paid off.

I’ m doing another wedding fayre next weekend, at the Red Cone Glass Museum in Amblecote, Stourbridge, were I’ll but putting on another two fashion shows – i’ll have a range of my second hand and ex sample wedding dresses, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses there, so if you fancy coming along, having a look and even trying some on, please do.  Come and say hello – we’d love to meet you!

Wedding fayres coming up….

Posted in Uncategorized on May 17th, 2009 by Claire – Be the first to comment

I’ll be taking most of my second hand and ex sample wedding dresses, and some of the bridesmaid and prom dresses to a couple of wedding fayres in June, and I’ll be taking part in a fashion show at both – a great chance to see the dresses on real girls, as they never look as good on the hanger or mannequin as they do in real life on a real person!!

The shows are:

Bromsgrove Rugby Club, Sunday 7th June 11 – 3.  I think the fashion show will take place around 1pm.

The Red House Glass Cone Museum, Wordsley nr Stourbridge, Sunday 14th June 11 – 4.  There will be two fashion shows at around 12pm and 2pm.

Hope to see plenty of you there!
